Here are some ways I find that minimizes the stress I feel during the holidays. Who knows, you may even end up enjoying the holidays more than you thought you would.
Stick to a Budget. Before you hit the stores, figure out how much money you have to spend and stick to that amount. This will help you avoid the “January credit card bill is due” blues.
Don’t over commit yourself. Of course you may be thinking this is easier said than done, but you have to learn to say no. Saying yes when you should say no, can lead to feelings of resentment and bewilderment. One of the biggest culprits of holiday stress or the holiday blues is over commitment and the fatigue that accompanies it.
Be Realistic. The holidays don’t have to be perfect. Traditions do change as families change. You can create new traditions while holding on to some old ones.
Take care of your health. In order to enjoy and appreciate the holiday season, you must take care of yourself while you are taking care of everything else. Try to take some time for yourself to relax. Make sure you get enough sleep, eat right, exercise and don’t overindulge in holiday cheer.
