Quite a few of us begin the New Year with resolutions. Here are a few that might be helpful to start this quarter off right .
Reassess the fall quarter and make necessary corrections to things that didn’t go as well as you hoped. Did you procrastinate on your readings and/or writing your papers? Did you miss a few too many classes? The winter quarter is a new beginning and you can make positive changes and adjustments that will assist in meeting your semester goals.
Take advantage of the challenges and opportunities that your classes present you. Instead of dreading the tougher classes, remember that they serve a purpose in your educational journey. Put in the time and effort and reap in the rewards of successful completion. It might surprise you that a change in attitude might just make the difference.
Enjoy your college experience but understand that you need to spend quality time to get a quality education. The next step after college is employment so consider this as a test run. You won’t be allowed to put minimal effort and time into a work project, so why “train” yourself by putting in minimal effort and time into assignments and test preparations.
Seek assistance and practice networking. It is okay to ask for help. Is it a surprise to learn that campus personnel actually enjoy working directly with students? Seeking assistance can also help you build a network that enhances your college experience while possibly providing invaluable connections necessary to build your future.
Make connections, try new activities, and get more involved. This quarter, venture outside of your comfort zone by joining a club or a study group; attend different events or find new ways to engage in the Berkeley community.
